o meu país inventado

Mais algumas achegas para a ficção "Portugal" e "portugueses": o meu país inventado por portugueses residentes na Califórnia.
Uma comunidade que descomplexadamente celebra o seu dia com brasileiros e americanos, com "Food from Portugal, Azores, Madeira, Macau and Brazil", com bandas filarmónicas e João Domingos Bomtempo, com um torneio de golfe, com missas para celebrar a cultura e os valores portugueses.
Um país em parte parecido com o meu - este que eu invento na Alemanha -, em parte desconhecido.

Confesso que me emocionei um pouco ao ver este programa. Como o sobressalto de alguma coisa muito funda que me une a esses que do outro lado do mundo comemoram o nosso dia.

(E agora me dou conta que do Consulado em Berlim, onde estou inscrita, não recebi qualquer notícia de comemorações e festejos.)


Dia de Portugal Classical Portuguese Concert

At Five Wounds Portuguese National Church, at 2:30 p.m. The Mission Chamber Orchestra from San Jose, will play the Requiem of Camões, written by the Portuguese composer João Domingos Bomtempo, for the first time in the USA. The Deo Gloria Choir, composed of about fifty singers, will join the orchestra, so there will be one hundred people performing simultaneously.

2nd Annual Dia de Portugal Cultural Dinner

At The Tulare Historical Museum - Heritage Room at 6:00 p.m. Dinner will be served at 7:00 p.m. followed by dancing with the music of Lino & Nelson.

Dia De Portugal Festival - Sausalito

At The I.D.E.S.S.T. Hall, (511 Caledonia Street Sausalito, California) at noon. The event will feature Portuguese-American artists, Portuguese food, cheese, wine, baked goods, pastries, and Portuguese music, dance and vocal groups primarily from the North Bay.

The golf tournament organized by the Foundation, works in conjunction with many other events held throughout the Central valley to benefit and support higher education for students of Central California.

At History Park San Jose (Kelley Park), 1650 Senter Road, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. There will be a Parade at noon, Philharmonic Bands, Portuguese Folklore, Brazilian Dancing, Food from Portugal, Azores, Madeira, Macau and Brazil, Children's Carnival, Portuguese Artists' Exhibition, Portuguese Book Faire and Portuguese Cooking Demonstrations. It will be a full day of fun and entertainment for all ages.
