The Berliner Philharmoniker, the Rundfunkchor Berlin and Simon Rattle make the space between the Neue Nationalgalerie and the Philharmonie into an outdoor stage. Together with 100 children from the new, Berlin-wide choir project “Vocal heroes”, they will perform Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana. The Berlin music legend Klaus Doldinger brings many of his musical companions together for an open-air jazz concert. 1000 amateur singers and performers from all over Berlin will transform the Kulturforum acoustically on both days with Crowd Out, the new choral work by the New York composer David Lang. Musical programmes such as an organ walking tour with Cameron Carpenter, which will take visitors through the entire area and its individual buildings. The Staatlichen Museen zu Berlin, the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin and the Ibero-American Institute take the year 1914, the beginning of the First World War, as the theme for their exhibitions. A number of events in the fields of fashion, dance, theatre, performance, film and music complement the programme. Interactive programmes, special tours and events especially for children and young people are also offered.
